One of Dublin’s most iconic pubs, The Hill, has reopened its doors once more.

The building itself, which originally opened for business in 1845, has been a longstanding part of the Ranelagh and Dublin 6 community for around 200 years with a number of proprietors all having put their stamp on this timeless bar and one time grocers.

The soft re-opening of the stunning building took place last Thursday, August 12th and with a number of sympathetic renovations having taken place, it’s new owners have breathed some new life into the beautiful and historic building inside and out. Having retained a lot of its original character, you will find original gold mirrored plating above the bar with one of the previous owners’ names etched into its design as well as the pub’s memory. There’s also some original brass and wood fittings dotted throughout the space, with a much loved snug at the very front of the bar for those cosy gatherings on cooler nights.

So what can you expect from the new and improved Hill? For starters, the team are looking forward to welcoming locals and surrounding neighbours back into The Hill. “We want to make the bar a focal point of the community where you can drop in for a coffee during the day or enjoy a post work pint or cocktail with friends, colleagues and family. Our aim is to provide top quality service alongside great food and interesting drinks in a welcoming atmosphere”

The mouth watering food offering has been created by chef Derek Marsden (Brickyard, The Box Tree UK, The Hill – previous chef/owner) that elevates comfort food to the next level. From the succulent Classic Reuben with delectable sliced pastrami, to the tasty Gochujang Chicken & Cheese with heavenly pulled gochujang chicken, you can expect big, bold flavours coming out of the kitchen. Food will commence in a couple of weeks time.

Accompanying the big flavours from the kitchen, the carefully curated cocktail list will take seven classics and twist them into something bold and new. To give you a taste, the Kennedy’s Call is a smoked Old Fashioned that is a treat for the eyes as well as the palate. Using Jameson Black Barrel whiskey, you get to enjoy a blend of subtle flavours such as pear, apple, cardamom & vanilla. Alongside the stunning cocktail menu will be all your favourite beers and stouts on draft, a rotating craft beer selection, a fine selection of gins and whiskies as well as some carefully chosen wines.
