To celebrate the spookiest season, The National Leprechaun Museum invites you to join them on an immersive Samhain experience, Waking The Dead. This show explores traditional Irish attitudes and practices relating to death.
The festival of Samhain is approaching; the veil between the living and the dead is at its thinnest… Who knows what will happen.
This Halloween you are called upon to attend a wake happening at the museum. Join the procession of mourners and celebrate the life of the person of the deceased, the way only the Irish know how – By airing our grievances, begging for the saving of this soul, and eating an unholy amount of sandwiches.
Walk with us through some of the strange and unusual habits we embrace at a time of mourning, Unravel the tradition and superstition that surrounds the Irish infatuation with life, death and a good send off.
Show director Leanne Bickerdike, who has been working tirelessly on the event says “So you think you know death? Think again. The Irish wake is a past time of dancing, singing and some stories not meant for kids! That is exactly what we aim to achieve with Waking The Dead. Who knows, you might even learn a thing or two!”
Waking The Dead, an adults-only show, opens on October 28th with nightly shows running through October 31st. Tickets are €20 and on-sale October 1st. Booking in advance is strongly advised to avoid disappointment.
