Baileys have collaborated with allta winter house to create the ultimate indulgent festive coffee…with a twist.

Looking for some sweet indulgence this Christmas? Well, Baileys have collaborated with allta, to bring the Irish coffee to a whole new level, creating one seriously festive drink, exclusively available at allta winter house.

In their quest to stir up a luscious Irish coffee, the team at allta have come up with a drinkable delight with the same full-bodied flavour of a typical Irish coffee but with a modern twist. The team decided to completely reimagine the brewing process, substituting water for Baileys within a traditional moka pot. As the Baileys is heated, it flows through the ground coffee and carries the flavour, creating an irresistible winter warmer with even more depth and body than a typical Irish coffee.

The allta X Baileys Irish Coffee delivers a delicious umami flavour, thanks to the addition of miso which slightly reduces the sweetness while adding a glorious, salted caramel kick. The decadent recipe also features Irish Barmbrack Bitters, created by local Dublin company Off the Cuffe, bringing a touch of festive spice.

Commenting on the festive creation, Austin Finn, General Manager of allta said“We’re excited to collaborate with Baileys at our newest home, allta winter house. We wanted to create a modern twist and still honour a Christmas favourite, so we simply reimagined the brewing process. Baileys and coffee are already a delicious combo but to give it some extra allta magic, we’ve also added white miso and bitters to achieve even more richness.”

The allta X Baileys Irish Coffee will be available exclusively at the newly launchedallta winter house, located on the 5th floor of the Trinity Street Car Park, Dublin 2. Guests will be given the choice to enjoy the allta X Baileys Irish Coffee on its own or as part of allta winter house’s twelve course food and drink experience, where it is perfectly paired with their mouth-watering Crème Brûlée Doughnuts.

Baileys and allta fans can also create this moreish adult treat for themselves at home, to be enjoyed curled up in their favourite spot or to impress friends or family this festive season. Afterall, we all deserve a special treat once in a while!

allta X BAILEYS IRISH COFFEE

INGREDIENTS

Serves 1 – Approx. 21mls of alcohol per serve

  • 125mls of Baileys Original Irish Cream
  • 5tsp of your favourite coffee, fine to medium-fine grind size
  • Pea size amount of white miso (optional – an alternative is miso paste which can be found in any large grocery store)
  • 2 dashes of Off the Cuffe Barmbrack Irish Bitters (optional – an alternative is Angostura bitters which can be found in any large off licence)
  • Whipped cream

METHOD

  1. Combine Baileys and white miso in a small bowl and whisk until smooth. Add two dashes of bitters.
  2. Add the mixture to your moka pot and add your favourite ground coffee. Put your moka pot on the heat and watch it do its thing!
  3. While the moka pot is heating up, get busy whipping your cream until the mixture has increased in volume but still moves slowly in the bowl.
  4. Pour your brewed coffee into a heatproof glass.
  5. Using a heated dessert spoon, top your coffee with cream pouring over the back of the spoon and don’t mind if it’s dripping over the edges, all the more delicious!
  6. Curl up in your favourite spot and with your favourite treat conspirators and enjoy…hell yeah!

Quick Tip: If you don’t have a moka pot at home, just substitute the ground coffee with 1tsp of instant coffee and add the mixture to a pot. Cover the pot with a lid and heat to 80°C or until just simmering. Pour the brew into a glass and top with cream and indulge!
