Run For Meals as Zambrero launches second annual Plate4Plate Run from October 9th to 11th
Following the success of last year’s inaugural Zam Run, which saw 1,604 additional meals added to Zambrero Ireland’s Plate4Plate donation tally, the initiative is back for its second year. From October 9th to 11th, each kilometre tracked will equal a meal for people experiencing hunger.
Zambrero’s Plate4Plate programme is its global meal donation initiative, with every meal purchased at Zambrero matched with a meal donated to someone in need through charity partner Rise Against Hunger. This October, they are inviting people across the country to help add even more meals to that total by turning their weekend runs into donations.
The Plate4Plate Zam Run weekend will take place from Friday, October 9th to Sunday, October 11th. Participants simply need to log a run or walk on their favourite fitness tracking app, take a screenshot of the distance recorded and share it on social media, tagging @zambreroireland. For every kilometre recorded, an additional meal will be donated via charity partner Rise Against Hunger.
In 2025, when people across Ireland – including scout groups, running clubs, families and friends – got involved in the inaugural weekend, it helped generate an additional 1,604 meal donations. Darragh Fanning, General Manager of Zambrero Ireland, wants to continue to build on that – “Last year, our Zam fam really got behind the Zam Run initiative. It was brilliant to see people of all ages and abilities getting involved and helping us add 1,604 meals to the final Plate4Plate tally. We’d love to see even more of our Zam community take part this year and help us make the 2026 Zam Run our biggest yet.”
“The Zam Run is a simple way for everyone to make their everyday activity count for something bigger. Whether you’re running 1 kilometre, walking with friends or taking on a longer challenge, every kilometre makes a difference – and means one more meal for someone facing hunger around the world.”
Rise Against Hunger distributes the meals to communities in need, including through school feeding programmes in regions across Africa, Asia and Latin America with limited access to nutrition. Zambrero, with 39 locations across Ireland, has continued to increase its contribution to the worldwide Plate4Plate total, with over 1.25 million meals donated so far in 2026 by Ireland alone.
