In what was once the ‘Wine Capital of Ireland, a creative ‘Pottery Painting, Shards and Chardonnay’ event will be hosted at Waterford Treasures Medieval Museum for Valentine’s Day.

Waterford’s long history in the wine trade will be celebrated with many pieces from the museum’s collection of medieval pottery being showcased, including a selection of wine jugs from the Middle Ages. Medieval wine jugs were heavily decorated and beautifully coloured items, emblematic of the luxury trade they represented.

Participants in the 2-hour workshop (6 pm February 15th) will enjoy a chance to spend a unique evening being guided through the pottery painting experience by Museum Curators, Donnchadh O Ceallacháin and Clíona Purcell, while enjoying wine or some non-alcoholic wine. Each guest will enjoy a chance to create their own exotic piece, painted to your liking and the finished wine jugs will be fired in a kiln to preserve the artwork for each guest to take home.

As part of the workshops, guests will have a chance to handle real medieval pottery, press their fingers against the fingerprints of the past and hold history in their hands.

The ‘Pottery Painting, Shards and Chardonnay’ event is beginner-friendly. For further details see https://www.waterfordtreasures.com/
