I shared last week the news of an incredible new event –  Christmas in the Courtyard – being launched in the run up to Christmas in the courtyard of the beautiful Royal Hospital Kilmainham. I read about the huge glass pavilion that was to be constructed pane by pane (all 500 of them!) but nothing prepared me for the sight lit up in all it’s splendour as you arrived through the archway of this gorgeous and unique venue. It honestly has to be seen and experienced for its wow factor alone.

We savoured the Art of Dining Night – a sumptuous six course menu prepared by Michelin chef Danni Barry. Pre-dinner entertainment featured The Victory Dolls, a super glam trio who put their own spin on many vintage classics and added in some gorgeous festive tunes to bring on some Christmas excitement. There’s a resident pianist to soothe you through dinner and then it’s time to ramp up a notch (or ten) with the incomparable Spring Break who literally got everyone up on the dance floor. Entertainment at it’s best and it made for a super memorable night – that type of night that we fondly remember from before Covid – where parties are big, the buzz in the room is palpable and you can literally dance the night away!

A special shout out to Avril Bannerton who saw an amazing idea come to fruition through much hard work and thank you to Rob Kenny, PR guru and all round lovely guy. I also want to mention the extremely pleasant and efficient waiting staff who couldn’t have looked after us any better.

There is a total of 25 fabulous and festive events (catering for all interests and budgets) throughout the 4-week run, coming to a close on December 18th. Tickets are selling out fast so visit ChristmasintheCourtyard.ie to purchase tickets and for more information – a fun time is guaranteed!
