  • Orwell Road is a casual neighbourhood restaurant in the heart of Dublin’s Rathgar, with all the love, effort, and attention to detail you would expect in a fine dining restaurant. We focus on creating beautiful food and a unique atmosphere for our customers. Approaching our cooking with humility and a team mentality, we focus on helping each other grow and learn, together. This philosophy extends throughout the restaurant from the kitchen to our front of house, working together as colleagues and friends to ensure that Orwell Road is a space that respects and adds to our local community.

Guided by head chef Daniel Hannigan, our kitchen uses as many local, Irish ingredients as we can get our hands on, with a clear focus on sustainable sourcing. In creating our menu we have one defining rule: everything must be delicious. Maintaining this simple idea is at the core of everything we do, and we were honoured to be added to the MICHELIN Guide. We want each member of our team to be excited by their day-to-day and we strive to ensure our workplace is a positive and energetic environment. We believe this is an essential ingredient to creating great food in a wonderful atmosphere. The whole team was thrilled to see our hard work rewarded by the Irish Restaurant Awards, which named Orwell Road 'Newcomer of the Year' in 2022.

Respect for the incredible ingredients we use is a fundamental part of our philosophy and approach to how we make food. As a team, we have worked hard to find incredible suppliers who put their heart and soul into growing, making, and raising the ingredients we use. We show respect for our suppliers and their produce by setting out to make every dish we create delicious, whilst avoiding needless waste.

  • Row Wines is the dynamic venture of Marc and Conor Bereen, in the heart of the city with a hip ‘wine, food and vinyl’ proposition. Our aim is to capture the imagination of Dublin’s cultured, well-traveled food and wine aficionados. Inspired by Tokyo’s Japanese style listening bars, the Bereen’s innovative enterprise is centered around natural wines, small plates, and a vinyl listening experience featuring a diverse and extensive music collection.

Our wine list is made up of wines that are either organic, natural, biodynamic, or sustainably made. We want to support those small producers who take the utmost care of the environment when making their grape juice. Indigenous grape varieties, regenerative practices, and avoiding harmful transport emissions are just some of the many aspects of the wine-making process that we have taken into consideration in our selection.

In addition to our wines, we have built a delicious cocktail list, alongside vermouth, Negroni, and beers available on tap.

In keeping with the overall brand, our love of seasonal Irish produce also carries through to the food. The menu at Row features 8–10 plates and snacks that will change regularly. Using fresh, Irish ingredients with a twist we create a fun, approachable menu featuring many of the great cheffing techniques used in our kitchens at Orwell Road and Charlotte Quay. Choose to order one plate with a glass of wine, or a full meal of eight plates.

At Row, the music moves with the evening, playing old classics from Nina Simone, Lee Scratch Perry, and Bob Marley, as well as disco, jazz, and house. Come and check out some gorgeous food, delicious wines, and listen to some groovy tunes.

  • Sano simply translates to healthy.

The idea for Sano came about after the MacHugh twin brothers visited Naples. All pizzas in Naples are made the Neapolitan way, using sourdough for the base, and cooked in traditional stone ovens at 500 degrees. Not only were these pizzas delicious, they had the added benefit of a much lower salt content, a lot less than the traditional pizza bases we are all used to. The other thing that struck the twins was how affordable the pizzas were – everywhere they went in Naples, the pizzerias were jammed packed with friends & families, all out enjoying fine food at affordable prices. Thereafter they set off to open a Neapolitan pizzeria in Dublin, sourced traditional stone ovens and purchased two direct from the manufacturer in the heart of Naples. Not long after, they found a suitable site and transformed it into Sano Pizza.

Their goal is to serve the customers the finest Neapolitan Pizzas, at an affordable cost, along with competitive cost for drinks, sides and desserts, ensuring everyone can afford to visit and enjoy Sano.

At Sano Pizza our Neapolitan Pizza is a softer style pizza, its chewy crusts and delicious flavours make is stand out from the crowd. Our dough is made on site daily using only 4 ingredients: flour, water, salt and yeast, and fermented for a minimum of 48 hours. Our pizzas are then stretched by hand, topped with authentic Italian ingredients and cooked for less than 90 seconds at 500°c in our beautiful ovens, all the way from Naples.

  • Traditional Irish bar & seafood restaurant in the heart of Howth village

     Great Music~Great Food~ Great Craic

A warm and welcoming interior with an old-fashioned feel, an open turf-burning fireplace, classic signage and interesting bric-a-brac stirring memories of a bygone age… these are just some of the features of “The Bloody Stream”, one of North Dublin’s most atmospheric and popular bars, where the byword is hospitality. Add to this the Mediterranean-style beer garden, live music every weekend and an extensive menu of fresh seafood and other delicacies and you have a special venue indeed.

Located just below the Howth DART station, its live music and late night bar create a real party atmosphere that’s proven a major attraction for locals as well as those travelling from Dublin city centre. In the heart of the picturesque town of Howth and its impressive harbour, The Bloody Stream has plenty of parking nearby and is especially popular among tour groups. It’s the perfect spot for those looking for great food and drink in pleasant surroundings, with that indefinable “craic” usually in evidence for good measure!

Whether you’re a fan of traditional Irish, Jazz, Blues or mainstream popular music The Bloody Stream always has something different to offer, and its beer garden is the perfect place for a summer afternoon’s listening to good sounds and enjoying a drink. The Bloody Stream caters for tour groups visiting Howth, private and corporate parties, and all social and sporting events.

    History of The Bloody Stream

The Bloody Stream is named in honour of The Bloody Stream over which it is built. In August 1177, during the second Norman invasion, a heavy battle took place near here between the forces of Sir Almeric Tristram (said to have been a descendent of one of the knights of King Arthur’s Round Table and whom took over command from Sir John de Courcy on the expedition’s arrival at Howth, who was unable to leave his ship) and the Danes, who were occupying Evora Bridge at that time. Inevitably the fighting produced blood, some of which found its way into the little stream that has been known as “The Bloody Stream” ever since.

  • The Brazen Head is located on Bridge Street. This is the area from where the original settlement that was to become Dublin got its name.

The Irish name for Dublin is Baile Atha Cliath – (pronounced: Ball-ya-Awha-Clia) which means “The Town of the Ford of the Reed Hurdles”.

Beside the pub is the Father Matthew Bridge crosses the river Liffey. It was at this very spot that the original crossing of the river was located. Here reed matting was positioned on the river bed which enabled travellers to cross safely at low tide.

The Brazen Head is Ireland's oldest pub. In fact there has been a hostelry here since 1198. The present building was built in 1754 as a coaching inn. However The Brazen Head appears in documents as far back as 1653.

An advertisement from the 1750’s reads “Christopher Quinn of The Brazen Head in Bridge Street has fitted said house with neat accommodations and commodious cellars for said business”.

  • When we took over The Legal Eagle, we inherited some of the glorious features, and the building really spoke to us of old-fashioned pub-grub. That style of food is very much in the 'nose-to-tail' world of dining, but the more we thought about it, the more we realised that 'nose-to-tail' (use every bit and don't waste it!!) sits alongside a celebration of vegetables very comfortably! Both are a celebration of produce, and we hope to use some lesser celebrated vegetables and vegetable tops etc.

Lunch downstairs features a daily - changing roast-in-a-roll, Irish potato flatbreads (Think bacon, cabbage and parsley sauce. Think roasted squash, fig and honey. Think smoked haddock brandade, fennel and duck egg!) and meats from our wood oven, traditional meat platters (hay-smoked ham, corned mutton, haslet, pickles, sourdough etc) and fish platters.

Dinner downstairs adds roasted bone marrow, rump heart, cauliflower rarebit, Shropshire Blue soufflé and roasted-buttered turnip tops.

There are twenty craft beers on tap (with a rotating guest tap), and a small, but considered and decidedly un-trendy, classic cocktail list. We are crazy about beer, whiskey and gin but wine is where we started and it remains a driving force for us. We have over 200 wines on a stellar list written with love.

  • Opened first in 2006 we realised we had something special in our little cave on South William Street in Dublin 2! Twelve months later, we opened another little cave in Temple Bar and our third in a cottage in Dundrum Town’s Centre’s Pembrook District.

After three successful restaurants and seven years of hard work and saving our pocket money, we decided we were grown up enough to hit London in search of fame and fortune down the West End of Covent Garden, where we hope to get a small bit part alongside Jude Law!

In 2019, we were delighted to announce that we opened our fifth location in Camden Street, Dublin 2. Which is an incredibly diverse area that gives us the opportunity to present our tapas, ports and wines with a focus on Cava that does not receive the attention it deserves.

    SOUTH WILLIAM STREET, DUBLIN 2

Traditional Spanish bar located in the heart of Dublin Town, South William Street. Offering a variety of Basque Pintxos and Tapas along with an eclectic list of wines, ports and sherries.

    TEMPLE BAR, DUBLIN 2

Located in Temple Bar, Port House Pintxo offers a romantic underground vibe with booth seating and one of Dublin's coolest outdoor terraces overlooking Meeting House Square so customers can also enjoy outdoor concerts in the summer.

    DUNDRUM, DUBLIN 14

Located in the prestigious Dundrum Town Centre area of South County Dublin, the cosy cottage restaurant offers not only our exquisite range of food, wine, port and sherry, there is a large open area for summer al fresco dining.

    CAMDEN STREET, DUBLIN 2

Located on the buzzing Camden Street, the Port House Cava offers an extensive tapas & pintxo menu, wines and port lists and a large selection of the Catalonian Sparkling wine ranging across many styles and varieties.

    THE STRAND, LONDON

The cellar-like, candelit restaurant is ideally located in the heart of the West End and only steps away from Convent Garden's Piazza. Sourcing its wine from all regions of Spain and Portugal, they serve an array of fine ports and sherries.

    PRIVATE DINING

If you're searching for the perfect venue for a group get together the Port House has rooms to fit any occasion. Whether it's a staff group night out, a birthday or anniversary celebration or a friends brunch- the Port House offers private dining in all of our locations, in Dublin and in London.

  • Est 1770s

Great pub, great pints, great food, great craic. You truly capture a sense of the hidden Ireland when you accidentally stumble upon The Stag’s Head. Finding it is akin to discovering a rare treasure as it is concealed through a narrow passageway off Dame Street, although access can also be gained through Exchequer Street or Georges Street. When you enter inside this feeling of discovered booty is greatly intensified as a virtual paradise of culture and old world values confronts you. This is probably Dublin’s best preserved Victorian pub – and everything here is of authentic Victorian origin. Take time to look around and savour the sumptuously carved Victorian mahogany fittings, the mosaic marble tiled floors and granite tabletops.

Visiting the Stag’s Head is a wondrous experience whether you call when the premises is cosy, warm and glowing at night time, or in early morning when this is old repository of liquid culture is radiantly illuminated by wafts of sunlight filtering through the stained glass windows. The mahogany bar, capped with red Connemara marble, follows the classic Victorian architectural pattern, being long and punctuated by exquisite partitions that divide into private compartments or stalls.

    History

Though a tavern has existed on this site since the 1780’s, this premises first attained great fame in the 1830’s as ‘John Bull’s Albion Hotel and Tavern’. This was one of the most sought after premises of the age in close proximity to ‘Dublin’s Theatreland’ and the fashionable stores of Dame Street and College Green. A popular music hall business was developed on the site, a trend continued by proprietors Alica and Henry Murphy during the 1840’s. William Wormington succeeded them here in the 1860’s and James Kennedy took the reins in the 1880’s.

    Birth of the Stag’s Head

The Stag’s Head was the brainchild of Westmoreland merchant George Tyson who came to Ireland in the 1870’s and established a thriving Menswear and Haderdashery business in Grafton Street, from where he was appointed ‘outfitter and shirtmaker to the Lord Lieutenant’. He acquired this premises in the early 1890’s and commissioned leading architect J.M. McGloughlin of Pearse Street to build Dublin’s most advanced and distinctive Victorian pub – and the first in the Capital to enjoy electric light. The new creation opened its doors to the Dublin public in May 1894 amid majestic fanfare and distinguished patronage including the Lord Lieutenant and the most respected members of contemporary Victorian society. Tyson’s name is still to be seen on the large clock on the outside of the building. Another outstanding vestige of this era is the little parlour lounge discreetly situated behind the main bar; in former times this area served as a fashionable Victorian smoking room.

Don’t miss the great craic of one of Dublin’s most renowned Traditional Music sessions that can be enjoyed downstairs in the Stag’s Tail. Private Parties, Corporate functions and Group Bookings for food and drinks can be accommodated in either of our spacious and private lounges.

    Food at the Stag’s Head

The Stag’s Head is a far cry from Tripe and Cows Heel today serving only the finest fare of this century to passing diners.

You will find traditional Bacon and Cabbage and the Best Fish and Chips in Dublin being served to customers from near and far who pass through the Stags’ Head along with many other traditional Irish dishes.
